We arrived at our Big Meadow campsite in the Shenandoah Mountains on a rainy afternoon that tapered off to fog and mist as the sun set. Our neighbors' campfires glowed surreally in the mist.

Melanie took Emily to the eye doc today. Everything looks fine. She has a little astigmatism which is normal for her age as her eyes are still forming their shape. The doc said she didn't need to come back for two years unless she starts squinting or seeing dead people.
